TEN YEARS OF RED

April 18th - 20th, 2014

Can it really be ten years? A full decade of camaraderie, conversation, comedy, controversy, cooking and -- oh by the way -- wine.

I couldn’t be prouder and more amazed that our club has lasted this long. And I think I speak for all of us when I say it’s an important part of my life. I always look forward to our dinners. I always walk away a lot more entertained and a little more informed. I’m in awe of my fellow REDgents.

Thank you, gentlemen, for such a tasty ten years!

And a HUGE thank you to James & Trevessa for making their home available to us for the weekend. A gorgeous house in an amazing location. James cooked up a storm. And the quality of the quaffing was off the charts. Rey and David were sorely missed.

Here’s to the next decade, REDgents!

Just another beautiful sunset as viewed from the balcony of James & Trevessa’s Laguna Beach home.

Friday Night, April 18th

Friday saw the arrival of James, Tim, Doug, Don and Raj. Bags came out of trunks, bedrooms were divvied up and wines were pulled from coolers. The sunset provided a show as we dug into the wines. Everyone brought a favorite for this first night. See the labels below. The evening ended with a Japanese single malt and a DVD of “Children of Men.” We REDgents really know how to party!

Saturday Night, April 19th

James worked his magic again in the kitchen for breakfast. And Chris joined us mid morning, champaign in hand. A short walk to lunch. An afternoon assembling one of my Dad’s handmade jigsaw puzzles. And then the big meal -- Beef Bourguignon -- and big wines.
