2. Oberon

Robert Parker 90 pts - Another winner is the Oberon 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Composed of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with other Bordeaux varietals, it offers up notes of black currants, vanilla, tobacco leaf, cedar and spice box. Ripe, rich and medium-bodied, with loads of fruit and a heady finish, it can be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years.

3.Duckhorn

4.Cru

5.Provenance Vineyard Rutherford

6.Old Oak Cellars Alexander Valley (Sonoma)

7.Chappellet

ZEKES & CABS @ TIM’S

Raj rejoined the REDgents, and Brad Lewis made a guest appearance at this tasting of 2010 Napa (mostly) Cabernets. James and Rey missed a great flight of wines! Zeke’s made the weeknight cooking easy with a delivery of ribs, brisket, pork and chicken.

Here’s a couple of the many references to books, movies and TV shows we canvassed that evening:

From Doug:  One book that I mentioned was "When God Talks Back: Understanding the American Evangelical Relationship with God" by Luhrmann. Another was "When Prophecy Fails" by Festinger/Schachter/Riecken (1964) that is available in a Kindle edition for $4.99, much to my surprise. The final one was "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman that was cited in his Nobel Prize for Economics--it will help you understand the connection between the words banana and vomit.

From Brad: A. M. Holmes novel, “May We Be Forgiven” and the FX TV series, “The League.”

From Raj: The 2006 German film “The Lives of Others” and the Cinemax TV series, “Banshee.” Plus, the novel “Code Name Verity”

Please email me anything I might have missed or that anyone wants to add, and I’ll type it into this space.
